“I graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor's in Music Education, and now I'm going to pursue a Master's of Music in Performance at UNC Greensboro." How long have you been singing in choirs? “Nine years" What is your favorite musical memory? “Singing Beautiful Savior, a Gettysburg College Choir tradition at a choral reunion with members of classes as old as '52." Do you have any special talents or interests outside of music? “Horseback riding, and an obsession with Josh Groban" Who is your favorite composer? "Handel for voice, Puccini for opera, and for choir, it’s a tie between Morten Lauridsen and Ēriks Ešenvalds." Who's your favorite non-classical musical artist? "Josh Groban!" What song have you not been able to stop listening to? "Wait for Me from Hadestown" What were you doing in the summer when you were in middle school? "Musical theatre camps" If you were a cupcake what flavor would you be? Why? "Carrot cake because I love nature and earthiness!" What’s your favorite sports team? "Nationals" If you could turn anything purple, what would it be? “Eric Whitacre’s hair." What's your favorite thing about singing in Lux? “The rep, because it’s killer, and I love making music with wonderful humans." What’s your favorite song you've sung with Lux? "Entreat me not to leave you by Dan Forrest. It is the most beautiful, emotional setting of the text, and gives me chills every time." |
Eby Buscher is currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Performance. She recently graduated from Gettysburg College, where she received a Bachelor's in Music Education, studying voice with Dr. Susan Hochmiller. She previously sang in the Gettysburg College Choir, Camerata, and Opera Workshop, frequently joined the Buzz Jones Quintet on vocals, performed in the Gettysburg College Bullets Marching Band, and was an accompanist for worship services, auditions, and musical theatre productions. She has placed as a winner for the regional Allegheny Mountain Chapter of the NATS vocal competition for the past four years. She previously interned with the Gettysburg Children's Choir. Recent performances include the role of Rosalinde in Johann Strauss Jr.'s "Die Fledermaus," Belinda in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas," Filia in Giacomo Carissimi's "Jephte," and a soloist in Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Nelson Mass. Last summer, Eby traveled to Urbania, Italy to perform in the Italian opera and language program Si Parla, Si Canta, where she was able to coach with master musicians such as Jeffrey Gall, Chris Merritt, Nicole Cabell, and Benton Hess. She has also sung in the Art of Song program of the chamber music festival, Orvieto Musica, held in Orvieto, Italy. She is looking forward to moving to North Carolina and performing in more operas.
