Andy Boggs

(Tenor)

Get to know Andy

What are you doing in school?
"I’m studying Vocal Performance at the University of Maryland. I’m also apart of one of the a cappella groups at UMD called DaCadence!"
How long have you been singing in choirs?
"I’ve been singing since I was in elementary school, and have been ever since!"
What is your favorite musical memory?
"I remember in elementary school, we would hear the high school’s Madrigal singers and I had always wanted to be a part of the group. Then, when I got to high school I was!"
Do you have any special talents or interests outside of music?
"I played football and lacrosse in high school and was a captain my senior year. I’ll always have a passion for sports and competing. I also enjoy drawing, journaling, and sleep!"
Who is your favorite composer?
"Ēriks Ešenvalds! My junior year of high school, we sang Northern Lights and I fell in love with the music; singing the piece was my first exposure to
Ešenvalds. And then my senior year we sang Only In Sleep, in which I was able to solo for part of piece which was an amazing and humbling experience."
Who's your favorite non-classical musical artist?
"I would have to say either Josh Groban or Amber Run. Both are vastly different but I definitely vibe with both."
What song have you not been able to stop listening to (classical or not)?
"The song that I’ve been non stop listening to is Just My Luck by CoCo Jones because it bumps, and then also I Found by Amber Run because it has a great sound that comes along with an intense message."
If you could turn anything purple, what would it be?
"I would turn the sky purple, I have no idea why but I think it would be pretty interesting to see what the sunrises and sunsets would then look like because of that."
Who's cooler - John Lennon or Mick Jagger?
"Definitely John Lennon. He founded The Beatles, how can Mick Jagger beat him?"
What’s your favorite sports team?
"The Houstons Texans! I was born in Texas so it was between them and the Dallas Cowboys, so I think I picked the better option."
Lions, Tigers, or Bears?
"I prefer lions, I’m a Leo which associates with a lion. And also, they’re the king of the jungle."
What's the most interesting fact about you?
"I had an article written about me because in high school I sang the national anthem, played a football game, and was in a play all in the same day!"
