Get to know Amanda

What are you doing in school?
"I’m getting my Master of Music in Opera Performance at the University of Maryland."
How long have you been singing in choirs?
"
Since elementary school. I started singing in my church's children's choir."
What is your favorite musical memory?
"
In high school, we would have outdoor worship services where we would sing worship songs for hours. It was the coolest experience because you could so clearly feel the Holy Spirit’s presence there."
Do you have any special talents or interests outside of music?
"Talking about Jesus, so ask me about Him sometime!"
Who is your favorite composer?

"This changes all the time, but I've recently been really into French art song, so I'd have to go with Debussy."
Who's your favorite non-classical musical artist?
"I'm really basic and I love Ariana Grande."
What song have you not been able to stop listening to?
"Here as in Heaven by Elevation Worship."
 What were you doing during the summer in middle school?
"Traveling the world. I believe during the summers in middle school we went to Spain, France, and China, just to name a few."
Do you prefer lions or tigers?
"Tigers because stripes are better than polka dots."
What's your favorite sports team?
"Green Bay Packers"
Would you rather spend the day with Ellen or Jennifer Lawrence?
"Ellen because I like to laugh."
What's your favorite thing about singing in Lux?
"There's something so special about making music with your closest friends. Every rehearsal is fun because everyone is working toward a goal and is giving their all."
What's your favorite song you've sung with Lux?
"Silent Night arranged by Jonathan Rathbone."
What's the most interesting fact about you?
"I've sung Soprano 1, Soprano 2, Alto 1, and Alto 2 in Lux!"

Amanda Densmoor is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, summa cum laude, studying with Delores Ziegler. As a concert soloist, Amanda has been featured in Carissimi’s Jephte and Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, and as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem. An active member of the Maryland Opera Studio (MOS), Amanda has sung in the chorus of La Clemenza di Tito and Street Scene, covered the role of Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, and made her role debut with MOS as Mère Jeanne in Dialogues des Carmélites. Past credits include Patience (Patience) The Pirates of Penzance (Kate), Dido and Aeneas (Second Woman), and Trial by Jury (Counsel). This summer, Amanda will sing Nella in Gianni Schicchiand cover Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica with Opera Susquehanna, and will return to UMD in the fall as a member of the Maryland Opera Studio.
